What We Believe

East Hodgdon Bible Church believes the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired, inerrant Word of God and our final authority for faith and life.

We believe in one eternal God, existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that God created all things, that mankind was created in His image, and that through Adam’s sin humanity fell into sin and became unable to save itself.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man, who was born of the virgin Mary, died as the substitutionary sacrifice for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, and ascended into heaven, where He now intercedes for His people.

We believe that salvation is by God’s grace alone, through faith alone in Jesus Christ, and not by human works. All who trust in Christ are born again by the Holy Spirit, justified through His shed blood, and kept secure in Him forever. The Holy Spirit indwells believers, enables them to grow in holiness, and guides them in the truth of God’s Word.

We believe that Christians are called to live in obedience to Scripture, pursuing holiness and separating themselves from sin. We uphold God’s design for marriage as the lifelong union of one man and one woman, with sexual intimacy reserved for marriage. At the same time, we recognize that all people need the grace of God and are to be treated with compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. We desire to be a church where those struggling with temptation can find biblical guidance, loving care, and encouragement to follow Christ.

Our desire is to know Christ, grow in His likeness, and faithfully proclaim the gospel of His saving grace.
